Disasters come in many forms, and can occur anywhere, at any time. Emergency management is an ongoing cycle with four phases: Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery with regular updating, communicating, assessing, and reevaluating of how to respond in a disaster.
When a disaster strikes, there is naturally turmoil, panic, and fear. Preparedness is essential. Established communication protocols and procedures reduce anxiety, help avoid duplication, provide critical information and updates, and ensure that no one in the child care community is forgotten.
