Research shows over and over that bilingualism does NOT cause delays. However, our communities are often bombarded by false information or assumptions that children exposed to and developing two or more languages may be confused or even delayed. Sadly, there are even professionals in the field that advise families to “stick to one language.” Language and culture are inherently political and there are a multitude of ways to support language development in more than one language. Communication is valid in all forms and we are listening!
