SUMMARY:Supporting Young Children to Cope\, Build Resilience and Heal from Trauma through Play
DESCRIPTION:Supporting Young Children to Cope\, Build Resilience and Heal from Trauma through Play For children who experience trauma\, play is a powerful tool that provides them with a context to transform the experiences that are overwhelming\, frightening\, and unimaginable into manageable and predictable events that they have control over. In this training\, we go deeper in understanding the intersection of trauma and play and how to support children to have a voice and pathways to heal. \nMany children express their thoughts and feelings more fully and directly through play than they are able to do verbally because young children’s emotions are often inaccessible to them at a verbal level. For children who experience trauma\, play is a powerful tool that provides them with a context to transform the experiences that are overwhelming\, frightening\, and unimaginable into manageable and predictable events that they have control over. Specifically for early childhood providers\, this training will help them learn what to do when they observe trauma being expressed in a classroom through a child’s play. \nLearning Objectives:\n1) Summarize the four parts of the brain and how each part is impacted by trauma and toxic stress and how play supports healing\n2) Construct 1-2 trauma-responsive strategies to support a child during expressions of stress during their play\n3) Explain 1-2 trauma-responsive attunement/relational strategies to help trauma-impacted children during play \nClick HERE to register

SUMMARY:Name It and Tame It: Social Emotional Reflection for Child Care Providers
DESCRIPTION:How you feel about the children in your care\, and their family members\, informs what you think about them. What you think about them guides your communication and interactions with them. Typical childhood behaviors\, and routine interactions\, can be seen as challenging when adult temperaments\, biases\, or hot buttons\, flare up. What challenges us can be rooted in our own beliefs and biases. \nJoin Hively staff to review temperament\, hot buttons\, and bias through the lens of child care providers. Participants will be guided to consider what role\, if any\, their own biases\, or preferences\, play in their perception of challenging behavior and interactions. Participants will learn and practice strategies to help them reframe old beliefs and biases. \nCCIP ECE Competencies Topic: Professionalism\nCheck with your PGA to confirm this training counts as Professional Growth Hours \nREGISTER HERE
