Hively can now assist families and individuals with CalFresh applications!

The CalFresh Program, federally known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), issues monthly electronic benefits that can be used to buy most foods at many markets and food stores. 

The CalFresh Program helps improve the health and well-being of qualified families, households and individuals by providing them resources to meet their nutritional needs.

Do I qualify for CalFresh benefits?

The amount of benefits a household is eligible to receive depends on income, expenses, and household size, and other factors. The current maximum for a household of 1 is $292/month.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for CalFresh?

California residents who are U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees / asylees, immigrants receiving immigration relief through VAWA and U or T visa holders who meet the income requirements in this matrix are eligible for CalFresh.

Where can Hively help people apply?

Hively provides in-person application assistance. We have Application Specialists in our Pleasant, Fremont and Oakland offices.

How can I apply for CalFresh?

  • Step 1. Participate in a five-minute phone-based or in-person “pre-screening” interview with a Hively Application Specialist to discuss your potential eligibility. 
  • Step 2. Based on a successful pre-screening, participate in a 30-minute in-person session with a Hively Application Specialist at one of our offices to complete the online CalFresh application (this will include verification of identity, immigration status, income and proof of expenses).
  • Step 3. Participate in a final phone call with an Alameda County eligibility worker to review your application.
    • The County will make a final eligibility determination; successful applicants will be mailed EBT / Debit cards that work like ATM cards and are accepted at most grocery stores and farmers’ markets.
