How to Stay Calm When You Can’t Comfort Baby

September 21 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

From birth, babies communicate their needs through a variety of sounds, gestures, and movement. Baby’s smiles, wiggles, and giggles are enchanting opportunities to communicate with baby. Outburst of crying also communicate baby’s needs. Typically these sudden outbursts of crying eventually decrease as Child Care Providers employ responsive caregiving practices. What do you do when a baby cries inconsolably? How do you keep calm when nothing you do comforts baby?

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will review high quality practices for infant and toddler care
  • Participants will review why babies cry, how to calm them, and what could cause babies to cry inconsolably
  • Participants will receive resources
  • Participants will learn, and practice, strategies that can help them stay calm and responsive while caring for infants and toddlers
