Math is “Caught, Not Taught”: Nurturing Mathematical Minds in Early Childhood

November 18 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

This workshop is an “interactive” discussion focused on the exciting world of early childhood mathematics, challenging the traditional notion of “teaching” math and exploring how children naturally “catch” mathematical concepts through immersion and interaction rather than “direct” instruction. The discussion will include how to create a mathematically rich environment that fosters curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving skills to “facilitate” young children’s optimum mathematical abilities, growth and development. In addition, this interactive session will be filled with practical tips and examples of methods, strategies, and techniques on how to nurture young children’s mathematical minds.

Learning Objectives:

– For participants to gain a deeper understanding of children’s natural mathematical thinking and how math concepts are ““Caught, Not Taught” to “naturally facilitate” young children’s optimum mathematical mind growth and development.

– For participants to gain a deeper understanding of how to use their “role” as the “teacher” to “naturally facilitate” young children’s optimum mathematical mind growth and development.

– For participants to gain a deeper understanding of how to use their “classroom environment” to “naturally facilitate” young children’s optimum mathematical mind growth and development.

– For participants to gain a deeper understanding of how to use examples of “methods, strategies, and techniques” to “naturally facilitate” young children’s optimum mathematical mind growth and development.
